Outre leur fonction symbolique, les pierres lev\u00e9es pouvaient tr\u00e8s bien avoir un r\u00f4le de protection et de d\u00e9fense, surtout dans des r\u00e9gions o\u00f9 le bois \u00e9tait rare ou bien pourrissait rapidement sous l&rsquo;effet d&rsquo;un climat humide. On remarquera \u00e0 gauche, l\u00e9g\u00e8rement \u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e9cart, un lieu anim\u00e9 d&rsquo;un feu intense, qui semblerait indiquer un d\u00e9but de m\u00e9tallurgie (cuivre s\u00fbrement, ou m\u00eame bronze peut-\u00eatre ?). \/ Here is a megalithic encampment, c.2200 BC.
