L’animal est évidemment un ongulé herbivore ; il a quelque chose du zébu, du gnou et du chameau ; mais on devine à sa musculature apparente, qu’il doit être aussi rapide qu’une gazelle ! Le traitement en gouache donne à l’image une unité plastique, que n’avait pas forcément la photo d’origine.
This image belongs to the genre of « imaginary bestiary ». The animal is obviously a herbivorous ungulate; it has something of the zebu, the wildebeest and the camel; but one can guess from its apparent musculature that it must be as fast as a gazelle! The gouache treatment gives the image a plastic unity, which the original photo did not necessarily have.
